GFWC-The Woman's Club of Loudoun is a service and social organization with the purpose of bringing together all women interested in the welfare of their community. 2014 marked a significant anniversary --70 years since a group of thirteen women met on July 19, 1944, to discuss forming a club and joining the Virginia Federation of Women's Clubs (VFWC), founded in 1907. The Club's structure and objectives were then worked out with the VFWC. The first official meeting occurred on September 9, 1944, and fifty-five women joined. Our current membership of about 50 members includes women of all age groups and many interests.
The Virginia Federation of Women's Clubs is a part of the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC) headquartered in Washington, DC, also with significant historical background. The Woman's Club of Loudoun invites all women with the common interest of supporting their local community.
Come join us for friendship and fun as we support local, state, national and international communities with our time, talents, and gifts.
Usually general club meetings occur on the first Saturday of the months September through June. An administrative board also meets monthly in the months August through May. Locations for monthly meetings vary throughout the year, but most are located in Leesburg.
WCL meetings are hosted by member groups in these areas: Arts, Conservation, Education, Home Life, International Outreach, and Public Issues. Fundraisers and social events are also a part of the Club's events.
